Who is Hui Chuan?
Hui Chuan, a native of Taiwan, has always had a passion for food. Her appreciation began at a young age while learning to cook alongside her father. He taught her many different techniques and the importance of using fresh ingredients. Hui began residing in the United States at twenty, married and had three beautiful children. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and experimenting with different menus and ingredients continually. She often shared her creations with her children’s teachers and hosted themed dinner parties. It wasn’t long before people began to take notice of her dynamic personality and great talents.

Realizing her potential, Hui began her professional culinary education at the Rhode School of Cooking in Nice, France. Upon her return, she was inspired, and began planning her future restaurant concept, Hui Chuan Sushi, Sake and Tapas. She went to great lengths researching, developing recipes and locating superior products and ingredients. In May of 2001, Hui Chuan Sushi Sake and Tapas was born. Her concept can best be described as Asian fusion with no borders. Asian dishes are represented on her menu such as Sushi, Sashimi and Tataki as well as large variety of Tapas with a global flair. Hui’s flavors are a collaboration of her travels, experiences and favorite ingredients. Each hand-crafted dish is reflective of her colorful personality. Hui Chuan utilizes only the freshest and most quality products. They then are handled and prepared precisely to maintain a high nutritional value. Minimal sauces are used, infusing certain nuances while showcasing the natural flavors of the ingredients. Hui Chuan’s creations celebrate simplicity with a touch of her international panache.

Hui Chaun lovingly calls her restaurant the “tree house” a place where you can come as you are and enjoy a great meal. “You can treat my restaurant as a light snack or an elegant meal. It all depends on your mood,” says Hui Chuan Her petite and plentiful restaurant has a warm and inviting ambience. The service is attentive and personalized. If you dine there once, you will not be forgotten. The décor is old world Japanese style with an open showcase kitchen. Each dish is created a la minute right before your eyes. Chuan’s restaurant also features a traditional Japanese Tatami room. “Many people comment they feel transported when they dine at my establishment,” says Hui Chuan.

The neighborhood café, located in the upscale Ridglea village, has become a favorite for many and has received high acclaim and honors from the media. The Fort Worth Weekly named Hui Chuan “Best Sushi”. The eatery has also been praised by Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Dallas Morning News and The Neiman Marcus Ncircle publication. Hui Chuan’s product line is currently featured in the Fort Worth Central Market and she is a regular teaching instructor at Central Market’s cooking school.
